After weeks of trying I finally managed to get tickets for the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A, which I visited last weekend.
First and foremost, it’s a brilliant exhibition and it really captures Bowie the artist, the performer, the actor…the soundtrack wasn’t too bad either!
I couldn’t believe how much original material there was from pages and pages of lyrics to homemade costumes, original album artwork and props. It’s mesmerising. I was amazed at how much stuff he’d kept!
For me it was very much a trip back in time to the Roxy room . Those living in Manchester in the late 70’s and early 80’s will know what I mean.
In those days I don’t think Bowie had fans, I think he had believers. It must be said that Bowie was an icon in our house, so much so that three weeks ago my older brother got married in the morning and went to the Bowie exhibition in the afternoon.
Now that’s a lad, insane!
With thanks to the V&A for providing the images.
