On the 5th Day of Christmas

Last Friday saw the festive season start with a bang after another unconventional R Design Christmas. Following a heavy struggle with the tree, the studio finally started to feel a little more jubilant as decorations, lights and presents began popping up in their rightful places.

The theme of this year’s Secret Santa was Christmas songs & hymns.  The challenge: find a gift that alluded to a well-known christmas song (and spend less than 5 golden rings).  As always, the array of presents varied from the slightly extraordinary to the downright obscure, with pizzas, babies, fairies and Batman all making an appearance.  If you dare to test your musical knowledge, see how many songs you can guess from the below!

Following a celebratory drink in the studio, we headed straight to The Crazy Coqs bar within the grand Parisian Brasserie Zédel in Soho, for a quick taste of stylish Art Deco, 20s glamour and opulent cocktails.

Keeping in theme, we then moved on to the spectacular Oscar Wilde Bar hidden inside the decadent Hotel Café Royal for a night of entertainment hosted by The Black Cat Cabaret.  The space boasts that this very room is where great minds came together to change the world; where Oscar Wilde fell in love with Lord Alfred Douglas, Aubrey Beardsley debated with Whistler, David Bowie retired Ziggy Stardust and Mick Jagger, the Beatles and Elizabeth Taylor danced the night away.

A quality serving of Champagne complemented a further tasting of dinner as live entertainment from musicians, dancers, magicians, and flamboyant performers kept us amused all night.

So here’s to 2014! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to joining you in a new and prosperous year.
